I am healing and growing

I have faced the battle

I am braver than cancer
I remember when I came face to face with the idea that I’d been chosen to be a reminder and survival guide for another. I’d come face to face with someone terrified, someone newly diagnosed, someone gasping under the burden of her diagnosis, and something inside me unraveled.
I did not provide them with medical data. I did not possess an equation. I just told them the truth: "I know what it feels like, what you’re going through right now, and you're not alone." That small gift—my bitter, unfiltered reality—was a bridge. I saw the tears rise in their eyes, not because I brought answers, but because I had survived another day. My existence reminded them of survival. There were so many times that people at a distance heard me tell my story in the waiting room, and they immediately got up and hugged me. They told me I had blessed them with my testimony. It was then that I came to understand my struggle in a new light. Every chemo session, every blood test, every whispered prayer through clenched teeth was not about me. It was planting seeds of strength for someone I hadn't met yet. My pain was becoming a ministry. I had no idea how many people were living in darkness until I opened up and shared half of my story.
